The Division 2's best exotics and how you get them
After all, why go for one powerful shot when you can fire five decently heavy slugs in the same window of time? The cream of the rifle crop then, belongs to the Merciless Exotic rifle. With thirty rounds in its clip and an RPM ofthis beast can easily shoot the wings off of flies.

A lot of players have been getting it lately, as the majority of the early access people got to the endgame. This guide is going to show you how to get Division 2 Merciless exotic riflewhat it looks like and its stats.
Most people reported getting it from end bosses in challenge difficulty missions, including Bank Headquarters and Jefferson Trade Center. The stats are going to depend on your gear score at the moment of acquisition, but the talents seem to be predetermined.
Binary Trigger means that the weapon fires both at the trigger pull and release. This sounds like it takes some time to get used to, but it could be interesting. Guerilla Warfare makes you shoot primer rounds when you pull the trigger.
They stay embedded in the enemy, and when you release the trigger, the gun shoots out a detonator round that detonates all primer rounds on the enemy it hits. The downside is that only one enemy can have primers embedded at a time, and no more than five of them. Your email address will not be published. Borderlands 3 Red Chest Locations in Borderlands 3. The best way to hit the max Gear Score is to continuously farm the Occupied Dark Zone for high-end loot, as well as exotics. As explained in the video, your best bet is to repeat Landmarks in the Occupied Dark Zone, which your you many chances at grabbing top tier loot.
You can also use the Demolitionist Specialization because of the explosive damage buffs. The rundown of this one comes from YouTuber widdzwho uses the Nemesis exotic sniper. As for gear, he uses one Murakami Industries piece for a small health buff, but with a high Damage to Elites offensive attribute and Hard Hitting Talent. Then he uses a Fenris Chestpiece because it can have both an active and passive Talent — this has Hard Hitting and Unstoppable Force, which grants extra weapon damage after killing an enemy based on your max armour.
Look out for Marksman damage and weapon damage attributes on these items. On your gear you want to look for the Hard Hitting and Destructive Talents, and you need seven Utility attributes to activate On the Ropes. For the primary, try a high damage M60, while using either Ruthless or Merciless as the secondary for the Brutality Holster Talent. The skills used were the Stinger Hive because of its short duration and the Fixer Drone, because you can use it to heal quickly then cancel it for a long cooldown.
This build is similar to the last one, but is based on the Demolitionist skill tree and focuses on the M32A1 Grenade Launcher and your regular concussion grenades more than other weapons and armour sets. It can absolutely melt people in PvP, so can be a great addition to any squad. The latter is useful because it can help you to account for enemy repositioning rather than having to always lead your shots. In your primary slot, look for a high damage M60 or similar LMG which has a large magazine size.
On your Demolitionist skill tree, you want to make sure that Explosive Ordinance and Onslaught are tier 3, and you have Braced for Impact. A combination of all of these factors means that your concussion grenades — as well as your grenade launcher — can one-shot just about anything and anyone in PVP, and you can deal huge amounts of damage in general.
For it to be truly effective, you must kill a player, hope another is within range of the cloud, and then kill them too. Running in the Dark Zone for a few hours can net you one, making it a great choice when dismantling for the exotic components needed to upgrade another weapon.
Making any shotgun work in The Division 2 is tricky. Their high power is undone by their very short range, which means every other type of weapon tends to be preferable over them. The Sweet Dreams is tailored to point-blank play, which puts you in a very vulnerable position. Melee attacks also give the enemy the Sandman debuff, which prevents any kind of healing. Putting yourself in that much risk trying to melee attack an enemy before Dark Souls-style rolling away, when there are plenty of weapons that can deal similar or greater damage at a safe range, is silly.
The Merciless rifle bog-standard rifle, not marksman or assault, which is a common point of confusion for those hunting it down synergises incredibly well with the Demolitionist, although its idiosyncrasies do make it less efficient than some alternatives.
The Merciless is defined by a combination of two talents: Binary Trigger, which fires a second shot on the fire button being released, and Guerrilla Warfare, which alternate fires an explosive primer shot and its detonator. If you can apply up to five primers on an enemy before landing the detonator, a hefty chunk of explosive damage will be dealt to them. Merciless practically requires you to centre your entire build around it, but the benefits for doing so are huge. Getting used to the Binary Trigger can be tricky and remembering to intentionally miss every other shot to maximise the number of primers on an enemy goes completely against shooter muscle memory.
A brutal marksman rifle, the Nemesis rewards a patient and considered play style. To help line up those lengthy shots, though, is the Nemesis talent itself, which marks an aimed-at enemy and tracks them through walls and cover. If the whims of Massive and its random Invaded Stronghold rotation is kind to you, it could take at best three weeks of careful planning. Despite that, the Nemesis can deal a lot of damage in a single shot, making short work of elite and named enemies. The true star of the show, though, is Independence.
Its two primary talents—Incessant Chatter that increases rate of fire by one percent for every shot landed, and Box Magazine that rewards killing an enemy with a buff that increases your ammo capacity by one for every shot landed for 10 seconds, and instantly reloads the Chatterbox on the next kill—allow it keep firing without ever having to stop to reload.
It also works well with slower weapons by boosting their rate of fire through the Blabbermouth talent, making it complement almost any build. It deals a decent amount of damage on its own, although there are still high-end SMGs that can outclass it in a stat-for-stat comparison. Exotics in The Division 2 are in a weird place right now. Topics tip.As a loot shooter, The Division 2 has plenty of gear, items, and weapons for players to chase. Some of the best gear players can find are exotic weaponsdesignated by the color orange.
These weapons generally offer the best statistics, as well as perks that make them worth going out of the way to acquire and also helping the player gear up for tougher challenges yet to come such as the 8 player raid called Operation Dark Hours. Unlike some exotic weapons in the game, players who utilize the Merciless exotic rifle will find it features a completely unique way of firing thanks to one of the talents it drops with.
Players who have found this weapon have reported it is capable of doing insane amounts of damage, hitting up to 1. With that said, the power level of the weapon is based around the player's gear score, so better versions can be found at higher levels, maximum player level, and world tiers.
So far, players have not found a dedicated way to get this single shot rifle to drop. Even though it appears to be entirely around the game's RNG system, players have had more success when running the Bank Headquarters and Jefferson Trade Center missions on Challenging difficulty after hitting the level cap of In addition, there have been other reports that the weapon has dropped after completing VIP Missions around the city.
In any case, the Merciless rifle is considered a Hyena weapon, so the best places to try and trigger the randomized drop would be to play through missions against the Hyenas.
In addition, players can technically find this weapon on Normal difficulty, but the odds increase when doing missions at Hard or Challenging. Part of the appeal of this weapon is in the way it fires, which is due to its first talent, Binary Trigger. This causes a bullet to fire when the trigger is pulled and released. Its second talent, Guerrilla Warfare, is really where the weapon gets interesting. Pulling the trigger fires primer rounds that embed in an enemy.
When the trigger is released, the final round fired is a detonator that triggers the embedded primers in the enemy to explode. To limit this somewhat, only one enemy can have up to five primers embedded at a time. Finally, the third talent is Brutality. For players who pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of The Division 2 prior to launch, they can switch the Merciless to a similar exotic known as Ruthless.
Players won't be able to perform this upgrade until they reach level 30 and have a Merciless with a gear score of or more. The same process can be applied to the Lullaby shotgunanother pre-order bonus item inside of the Capitol Defender Pack. Once both requirements are met, players that head to the crafting table at the White House will find the option to be available in the list.
The process will cost E-Credits, and the following materials:. One thing to note with the Lullaby and Ruthless "upgrade" is that it's actually a method to make the original weapon resemble these new ones and isn't actually an upgrade as the name implies. It's something that has no doubt confused a number of The Division 2 players since it isn't explained well in-game.

Derek's love of games came at an early age when his parents first brought home the Nintendo Entertainment System.Exotics are unique, named pieces of equipment you can find throughout The Division 2. They have unique abilities that make them preferable to a lot of standard gear, but the trade-off is that they can be incredibly difficult to find. Merciless is a standard, single-fire Rifle, and getting it comes down to just dumb luck. The Merciless rifle's main talent is Guerrilla Warfare, which can be very disorientating for first-time users.
On pressing down the fire button, a primer will be fired. This does normal damage, but it remains in the enemy for when you release. Releasing fire then sends a detonator, which, if it hits the same enemy, will then detonate the first charge for approximately 40, damage.
Landing a hit with a detonator will trigger multiple charges on the same enemy at once, so stack them up by intentionally missing every other shot until the maximum of five charges are on the enemy. Then detonate them with the tenth shot the release of your fifth click to deal almostexplosive damage at once. For Guerrilla Warfare to work, there is a second talent called Binary Trigger. To get it, you have to kill named Hyena bosses. It can be on any difficulty, although higher ones appear to have higher drop rates for it, so at the very least you should stick with Hard difficulty.
When you get it is just luck of the draw. Some people get it on their first try, others on their 50th mine was around the point. Getting a hold of the Merciless should be the main goal for any Demolitionist, as its raw explosive damage output works fantastically with their talents.
Or, you might be one of those lucky few who get it first time and the rest of us who toiled for it will secretly envy. Either way, good luck. Please deactivate your ad blocker in order to see our subscription offer.

Topics tip. While most assault rifles are either automatic or semi-auto, the Division 2 Merciless Exotic Rifle has a completely different mechanic that makes it arguably the most unique weapon in the game. It's one of many Division 2 Exotics available and we've got the lowdown on how to get it in The Division 2. Here's everything you need to know about the Division 2 Merciless. The stats for the Merciless Exotic Rifle are actually less important than other weapons because of it's unique way of firing.
With that said, it's a rifle so you know it's single shot and has an RPM ofalong with a 30 round magazine. Here are the three Merciless talents:. This is a system similar to ones found in games like Anthem and Mass Effect, and can cause some serious damage if you trigger five primers simultaneously.
We haven't got our hands on it ourselves yet so we can't vouch for how effective it is, but it sounds like it could easily become one of the best guns in The Division 2. But how do you get it? Obtaining the Merciless in The Division 2 is different to most of the other Exotics, because you have to rely on random drops a lot more, rather than guaranteed drops from tough enemies.
It's a Hyena weapon so the way you get the Merciless is by killing Hyena bosses. It's possible to obtain the Merciless on normal difficulty, but we'd recommend repeating Hyena missions on Hard or Challenging to increase the number of drops you get. As for which missions are eligible, we'd recommend trying the Jefferson Trade Center and Bank Headquarters missions.
There's also a chance you can get it from Daily VIP missions, but you can run and become more familiar with the standard missions available so your best bet will be repeating those. That's all you need to do! Keep killing Hyena bosses until the Merciless rifle drops then when you get it, you're in possession of a gun that can deal over 1.
